“I lived my childhood like most kids – normal, tamed, raw. However, my parents had to face lot of challenges raising me up as I was really notorious and somewhat arrogant? I was like the black sheep of the family; I never valued things or people in my life, until I was sent away for college. It was a new life, a redemption in my part, as I felt forlorn and alienated often; it was the first time I was on my own. But I’m forever grateful to my parents for sending me away – as it gave me a chance to explore a new independent life -with new people around, where I got exposed to a new way of life.
My life took a sharp turn when my mom became a single parent after my dad passed away in 2010. It brought a massive change in my life from who I was to who I’m today. I saw what’s it’s like to struggle to survive (from my mother). Thanks to that phase in my life, I’m a working lady now – on my own feet, hoping to make my mother proud (which I think I partially have) and most importantly I am now an independent woman. I’m Roshnee Rai from Sikkim, currently working out of Delhi – and that’s my life story in brief.”
- Hi Roshnee, thanks for sharing your life story. Now tell us about your new life – life as an independent 22-year-old living in the big city
I work as a cabin crew (and part-time model), and I love my job as it takes me to places I could never have imagined of going. Recently, I had the pleasure of traveling to Kochi in Kerala. I literally fell in love with the city. It was one of the most surreal experience for me and it was exactly the kind of place I wanted to visit for a long time. It gave me a new sort of energy to pursue whatever I am trying to do with my life 🙂
- Tell us how you keep your life so colorful!
Oh I love doing a ton of things whenever I get the time. Apart from traveling and meeting new people as a full-time cabin crew, I model part time 🙂 I keep exploring new things to try. Just recently, I picked up the Ukulele, and obsessed with learning how to play the instrument. Also, I come from a family of musicians (most of them, vocalists), so I try to use that talent whenever I get the chance; I hope I could make something of that in the future. Besides that, I do a lot of reading, writing, prose, poems and the list keeps getting longer . . .
Oh, did I mention my love for pups? I bond phenomenally well with pups! They are super adorable and great companions. Stray or a pet, I love all of them equally! I think I like all animals 🙂
You said that you model part-time. Ever thought of pursuing it full time?
If you can choose to live as any living celebrity, who would it be?
Jennifer Lawrence! I love her as an actress, and I like that she doesn’t pretend to be someone else. She has that aura that attracts people, and she makes everyone laugh. I always feel that I am in some ways exactly like her.

- One trend/style that you wish were back right now?
Aren’t we already living our fashion lives backward? I do think fashion is going back to its root from where it all started. I’ve nothing to wish for it because it always surprises me, and that’s how I feel both fashion and human nature should be.
- One recent fashion/beauty purchase that you can’t stop talking about?
I love my new Latex pant from Zara, it’s so sexy!
- A beauty/skincare product that you can’t do without.
